This is how my Haku story works:

In her childhood Haku didn't understand any suggestive things master did to her. She was happy with him, because she had a father, a master of hers.

Growing up Haku became smarter and started to understand what he is doing, he also started to do more with her, he became a monster.

After some time Haku met Neru. At first they were just friends, later their strong bond became something more and master wasn't so important anymore, Haku left him. (She couldn't before because of fear and nowhere to go to)

Now Haku is happy and in love with Neru. Their bond is even stronger than before and they have been sharing those feelings for a lot of years now.
